Check out Paper Chair by Mathias Bengtsson set to be shown this May at an exhibition of Danish Chairs in Milan. Not only is the profile of the chair extraordinary, but it’s the fabrication process that mad our jaws drop. The chair is entirely made of recycled paper glued together in layers and then carved by CNC mills into 2000 profiles which were then staked and pressed and heated to create one homogeneous three dimensional form. Two prototypes were made, one of white paper and one of black with parts interchanged to make two two chairs with inverse patterns of one another. Can’t you just imagine Surface Magazine doing an editorial with a model in Givenchy SS 2010 leggings and shoes strewn about in this chair?

I love the patterns of the chair and shoes. It’s so different. I’m really into keeping it classical with white and black but this is such a fun twist on the classic trend. I want thoose Givenchy shoes! ahhhhh
