So as we know architecture can inspire fashion or be inspired by it. With specialty and destination collections becoming more prevalent, I wouldn’t be surprised to find shows at actual locations the collections were informed by. One such venue I could foresee being a destination would be the Blur Building on Lake Neuchatel in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland by Diller & Scofidio for the Swiss Expo of 2000.
The structure of the pavilion is composed of 13,000 fog nozzles that create a mist that responds to changing climates and winds to form a cloud-like form hovering above the lake. This concept of blur is intended to confuse sensory instincts by whiting out visuals and noise to only hear the spraying of the mist and see the blur of the cloud. Can’t you imagine a venue in which the audience and collection are held on this haze of an island with models appearing out of the fog to reveal collection? Movie projections could interact with water walla to create a more layered and dynamic imagery with music playfully interacting with the misting. Light on models skin and water repellent pieces would reflect beaded water droplets beautifully creating even more of a dream like/ fantasy environment. One problem, I’m not too sure where the walkway and seating would go, but I’m sure for a design house with deep enough pockets they could just fabricate their own temporary extension to the Blur…

Insight which entails fashions consistently involved me. Most of the argument, Fashion Show Venues #1 | The Mod One, works to make a couple of rather unusual and after that privy opinions.
